We had 70 members; 40 renewed from previous years and 30 new.
Our overall attendance for the year was 348 at an average of 29 per screening.
Overall we believe the members were satisfied with the films that were selected.
The “six films per year” membership option proved very popular which did have a minor reduction to our income.
Membership Income totalled $2,915 and expenses $3,923.
The major expense $1,670 for the AV Receiver1. We also paid $770 to the Drama Club for their membership portion (OGFS $570, MOTM $200).
We are now including funds and expenses from the Dorrigo Environment Watch (DEW) within the Film Society accounts.
The current bank balance is $1,311 plus $880 for DEW totalling $2,191.
We will increase the “six films per year” option from $30 to $35 in 2019 to prevent the income shortfall from continuing.
Movies On The Mountain (MOTM)
We have had another busy year, slightly less young people near the HSC period and losing the year 12 kids but we have also had fresh new people pop in and that’s refreshing. New high school intake, we will be going to assembly and introducing ourselves again and hoping to drum up ‘business’ that way. Looking forward to some fundraising movies this year with OGFS. We continue on our model of booking movies per month as it’s a fickle audience and we get input from them at previous movies.
Our dates for this year are confirmed, and entered into the calendar (not without drama) they continue to be on Fridays 5-8pm during school terms.
We will continue to try getting sponsors from business in 2019. It costs about $200 to cover movie and DVD and food and drink per screening. Our volunteers always clean up after. We intend to continue making this experience free for the members.
We are still pursuing the intention to book a web domain for Movies On The Mountain and to create a website for us to attach links to sponsors.
